Postdoctoral position (f/d/m) in the Excellence Cluster RESIST to investigate mechanisms of respiratory infections - MHH Department of Pediatric Pneumology, Allergology and Neonatology
 
The Hannover Medical School (MHH), with about 10.000 employees the biggest company of Lower Saxony, is a university institution for research and teaching in the human and dental medicine and a university hospital of supra-maximum medical care. Research, teaching, medical care and administration work hand in hand in the integration model at the MHH-campus.

The project in the research associate to work in the group of Prof. Gesine Hansen, Department of Pediatric Pneumology, Allergology and Neonatology aims to better understand the immunological mechanisms of respiratory infections, in particular RSV infections, in very young children in order to develop new preventive and therapeutic approaches for this often life-threatening infection in children.
Your tasks
  • Analysis  in vitro as well as in mouse models and with biosamples from a clinical cohort of young children with severe RSV infection
  • FACs analyses
  • ELISA
  • Immunization and dissection of mice
  • Lung function measurement in mice
  • Analysis and statistical evaluation of data, transcript studies of isolated subpopulations in mice
Our requirements
  • Immunologists with special interest in T, B, DC and epithelial cell immunology
  • Experience in immunology and ideally virology 
  • Interest in analyzing scientific questions with high relevance for patients with severe infections
  • Expertise in mouse models is desirable
